Woodlands Nursery is owned and managed by Emma White. Emma already owns and manages an Ofsted outstanding nursery; Small World Kindergarten and Montessori near Christchurch Park in Ipswich. Emma has worked with children for over 22 years and is a passionate supporter of the Montessori ethos, having passed her Montessori Diploma with Merit back in 1998. Woodlands Nursery will cover the EYFS and loosely follow Montessori’s ethos, which encourages child-led learning through play and exploration.

Emma is passionate about creating stimulating environments for children which promote active learning through experiences. Woodlands Nursery will have daily forest school sessions built into a routine. The timber-framed design and classroom layout of open shelving will incorporate science and discovery areas, a literacy area that supports mark making/art and design, maths shelves with exciting and approachable games plus construction and small world play areas, kitchen role play as well as sand and water tables. A spacious outdoor area will also offer abundant and regularly changing activities to encourage children to learn and develop through a wide variety of stimulus.

Emma’s passion for childcare is matched by her love of the natural environment and nutrition.  Woodlands will benefit from a sensational garden and spacious covered deck.  Recycling and re-using will be integrated into the day to day running of the nursery, to help it run as sustainably and as waste-free as possible. Children will be actively encouraged to support and engage with the environment, underpinned by the belief that we can nurture the next generation to be conscious of their footprint on the planet from an early age.

Emma’s love of home-cooking and nutrition will greatly influence the kitchen at Woodlands. Children will be introduced to a varied and wholesome menu, featuring locally produced and seasonal ingredients, bursting with taste and nourishment. Healthy snacks during the day will always be available as Fresh fruit and vegetables.
